“Having been involved in videoconferencing for over a decade on the UM Columbia Campus, I was very excited about putting a high definition videoconferencing system to use on our campus. We conducted a two-day “Shoot out” of all the HD videoconferencing systems on the market and LifeSize from Kaleidoscope was the clear winner. They offer the best price and performance. We have been using our systems for over a year now and are very happy with our choice.”

“We all (four campuses) worked together on the decision making process with the intent of enhancing the ability of researchers on different campuses to collaborate on projects. After narrowing it down to 3-4 systems, we agreed that Kaleidoscope’s offering–LifeSize HD Videoconferencing–was the best. I have known Scott for a long time and he’s very respected and knowledgeable in the field, so once the project evolved we decided to have Kaleidoscope install a LifeSize System in the large Monsanto Auditorium as well.”

Lifesize Room and Team support VGA and 720P and in most cases will autodetect the type of connected display. If you encounter a display that isnot automatically detected, VGA or 720P can be manually selected via aseries of commands from the Lifesize Phone (you can also change thesesettings from the UI but if the display is not detected you will nothave a screen to work off). Once the system is fully booted press add, mute, add, mute on the Phone, enter the system password (default is1,2,3,4) and press mute (the mute button behaves like enter). Press 1for preferences then press 1 or 2 (Room only) for the display you wishto configure. You can now select VGA or 720P manually but 99% of thetime you will be going through this exercise to force VGA. This processcan also be followed when a display is partially detected and onlyshowing green making it difficult to navigate the UI. Detailedinstructions are located on page 17 of the Room user guide.
